State California library network book California Library. In response to recommendations made by the California Department of Public Health and as a precaution to help limit the spread of coronavirus, in-person services are temporarily suspended and all State Library locations are closed to the public.

The goal of this California State Library Initiative is to bring high-speed broadband to all California public libraries by connecting them to the California Research and Education Network (CalREN)—a high-capacity fiber-optic-based network designed to meet the unique requirements of educational and research institutions in California.

The following online resources augment the collections of the California State Library.
